Garage Door Bounces Back Open

Your garage door sensor works by having two photo sensitive devices on either side of the garage door.

Turn the down limit switch screw clockwise one turn with a flat blade screwdriver if the garage door closes and then begins to open back up. If you garage door is lowering then reversing back to the open position there could be something obstructing the sensors. When the garage door opens about halfway or 5 feet from the ground and stops the up limit switch needs to be adjusted. The two dials may have a picture of a house with a garage door next to them. When the logic board wears out it can cause your garage door to close then open and vice versa without explanation.

It goes partway down reverses direction and goes back up again. A careless or rushed parking job can cause the car s bumper to block the sensor. You want the one on the left. This brain can wear out in time so you could need a replacement.
